We’ve had a great week in Majorca and took some time out to visit the picturesque town of Valldemossa. In the centre there is a13th century Carthusian monastery where the composer Frederic Chopin spent a short period of time with his lover George Sand – it was hoped the climate would help him recover from ill health, possibly tuberculosis.
A small courtyard garden, said to have belonged to Chopin, is maintained with the rooms where the couple stayed – and it
really is delightful, with a fantastic view through the valley to the coast at Palma in the distance.
An enjoyable lunch of tapas and a glass of wine followed before we headed back to the hotel for more sun and sea…
