Well, the recent mixed weather has persisted today as we made a trip to Gardener’s World Live, but windows of dry sunshine in between downpours just meant we had to tailor our visit to indoor/outdoor viewing depending on conditions! Despite the rain, it’s been really enjoyable, with a feast of eye-catching plants and garden designs. Here are my six ‘show’ pics for today:
I couldn’t see a name label on this gorgeous ‘love in the mist’, on my favourite display in the Floral Marquee (well done Avon Bulbs), but I think it’s nigella damascena ‘Miss Jekyll Rose’ – please correct me if I’m wrong!
Avon Bulbs again – super combination of plants on display in the floral marquee.
I just couldn’t resist this elegant clematis ‘Arctic Queen’ – it was a popular choice with only 3 left on the Floyds Climbers and Clematis stand in the Floral Marquee. I’ve just got to decide where to plant it in the garden, but as it’s a comparatively low growing climber at just 6-8 feet, I’ve got a few ideas.
Verbascum ‘Helen Johnson’ – what a classic! Seeing this lovely plant today reminded me that it used to live happily in my garden, I cannot recall when it stopped reappearing, but there are none now. Must re-introduce!
‘The Watchmaker’s Garden‘ – my favourite show garden – a stunning cottage plot inspired by Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and designed by Alexandra Froggatt. The garden received a Platinum Award, and not surprisingly, ‘Best in Show’. Delightful.
Just look at this beautiful glory lily, Gloriosa Rothschildiana, a tender climbing tender tuberous perennial. I’ve bought 3 bulbs and I’m really hoping I can grow them to produce a flowers like this!
A great day, despite the rain – but time now to rest my aching feet!
